The picture used to promote the event by the Wedding Affair on their website is one of Javan's pictures.. here it is....

Castle goes al fresco with photographs

by Howard Barnett 16. September 2009 16:15

Published Date: 10 September 2009 Yorkshire Post (http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/Castle-goes-al-fresco-with.5636068.jp)
CELEBRATIONS marking the 700th anniversary of Ripley Castle, near Harrogate, are continuing with an outdoor photographic exhibition in aid of cancer research.

The castle is the home of Sir Thomas and Lady Ingilby. The Ingilbys are believed to be among the oldest families in the country to still live in the same residence.

People, Places and Faces, which runs until September 20 in the castle's gardens, is the work of Javan Liam, a Harrogate photographer, who has included in the exhibition images from his travels around the world.

The photographs are for sale and the proceeds are being donated to the PPR Foundation which is launching its appeal at the exhibition to fund research into brain tumours. It was set up by Pam Roberts, of Harrogate, whose husband died of a brain tumour. Two charities, Candlelighters and Andrea's Gift, have undertaken to build a research laboratory in Leeds. The £1m that Mrs Roberts is aiming to raise will fund a researcher for the unit.

Lady Ingilby said: "We wanted to raise money for charity during our celebrations and it seemed more than fitting to help Pam Roberts, whose husband Peter was a dear friend of ours, to launch the PPR Foundation."

Ripley Castle’s 700 Year Celebrations Continue (www.southsidebroadcasting.com)

by Howard Barnett 14. September 2009 14:03

Throughout 2009 Sir Thomas and Lady Ingilby have been celebrating 700 years at Ripley Castle. The Ingilby family are believed to be amongst one of the oldest families in the country to still live in the same residence. The latest event to be held is “People, Places and Faces”, a charity outdoor photographic exhibition which is being held from 10th until 20th September 2009 in the Castle’s magnificent gardens.

Javan Liam, who is based in Harrogate and currently regarded as one of the UK’s leading photographers, has produced the exhibition to include many amazing photographs from his travels around the world which highlight the diversity and depth of his work.

The photographs are for sale and the proceeds are being donated to The PPR Foundation which is launching its appeal at the exhibition to fund research into brain tumours. The foundation was set up by Pam Roberts who lives in Harrogate and whose husband died of a brain tumour. Brain tumours are more often than not killers and at present it is one of the most underfunded of all cancers. The two charities, Candlelighters and Andrea’s Gift, have undertaken to build a research laboratory in Leeds and the £1 million Pam is aiming to raise will fund the highest calibre researcher for the unit.

Said Lady Ingilby: “Over the past year we have been celebrating 700 years of the Ingilby’s at Ripley. This is our final and largest event, and probably the most exciting. We think Javan Liam has extraordinary talent and this exhibition gives us all the chance to enjoy the people, places and faces lucky enough to be caught by his lens. We wanted to raise money for charity during our celebrations and it seemed more than fitting to help Pam Roberts, whose husband Peter was a dear friend of ours, to launch the PPR Foundation at the event.”
